Summer is on! Thinking of some place to unwind without the hustle and bustle of the city life? Somewhere you  can pitch a tent, beach bum and wait for the sunset? There is this group of islands in the Bicol region you might want to visit. Approximately 8 hours from the metro, this paradise in South Luzon is worth the long travel time.

Located in Camarines Norte, Calaguas Group of Islands should be in your summer bucketlist this year. It is composed of at least 10 islands of which includes the well-known Mahabang Buhangin Beach in one of the two major islands ~ Tinaga Island. The other major island called Guintinua Island is just a 10 minutes boat ride from Tinaga. Both of these islands are under the territorial jurisdiction of Vinzons while the  minor island of Maculabo, which is at least a 40 minutes boat ride from Tinaga, is under the Paracale boundaries.

So in the last week of March this year, we had the chance to de-stress ourselves and visit this paradise in the southern part of Luzon.

Initially, we were supposed to be with my college friends but I don’t know why people have this tendency to seenzone you when the actual date is near. I understand we have personal commitments but I appreciate an answer when you are asked. Thanks to those who did say they can’t come. Anyway, since we really can’t wait to visit Calaguas, my boyfriend and I looked for a tour package and found one post in my favorite travel group – DIY Travel Philippines. Special thanks to Sir John of Oh My Guide Adventure Travel. It was definitely a memorable experience knowing we met new friends with the same passion as ours. Shout-out to Team Calaguas!

  1. Island Hopping

We sailed from Vinzons port and before reaching Mahabang Buhangin Beach, we stopped by Guintinua Island.

Then finally reached our destination~ Mahabang Buhangin Beach, Tinaga Island.

2. Camping

In Calaguas, you might not want to miss the opportunity to pitch your tent and camp.

3. Beach Bumming

Time is really slow when you’re in Calaguas. With no signal, you will be able to disconnect with the online world and enjoy yourselves while bumming on the beach ~

4. Sightseeing

Make yourselves full by feeding your sight with these magnificent views!

5. Read a book

Everytime I travel, I make sure to bring a book with me.

6. Photo Ops

And for those photophiles like me, Calaguas is a perfect summer backdrop!

7. Short Trek Uphill

If you’re the type of person who can’t have vacations without some adventures, a short trek uphill can also be experienced.

With this view on top, I could say my Calaguas experience is one of the best summer yet.

And of course, it would not be complete without him. Tee-hee! <3

That is probably it. For the itinerary and inquiries about the tour package, you may directly contact Sir John at 09179509346 or visit his facebook page.

Thank you for reading and I hope to have inspired you to travel more.

P.S. Leave no trace but memories.

With Love,
